Who We Are

Cornell Rocketry is an engineering project team dedicated to designing, assembling, and launching high-powered rockets to compete in the annual Spaceport America Cup.

Vertical Drill

The rocket payload is a mechanism that ejects from the airframe, lands on the ground, and deploys an auger drill that actuates and collects a soil sample for analysis.

BLiMS

The Break Line Manipulation System autonomously pulls the parachute’s brake lines, steering the descending rocket to a predetermined GPS coordinate.

AV Bay

The avionics bay houses the main electrical boards, such as the Central Flight Computer, and flight batteries of the launch vehicle.

Rocket Motor

Constructed from aluminum and steel, our ammonium-perchlorate solid motor is engineered to lift the launch vehicle to the target altitude, generating over 1,000 pounds of thrust at take-off.
